12.6 Part 2- Volume of a Sphere

Today, we learned about how to find the volume of a sphere.  You should know how to find the volume of any composite solid now using your knowledge of volume of all solids.

12.6- Surface Area of Spheres

Today we learned about how to find the surface area of a sphere.  Think about it taking apart a baseball, and asking yourself how much leather would you need to cover the entire surface.

12.5- Volume of Pyramids and Cones

Today we learned how to find the area of pyramids and cones.  You should be able to apply these formulas to calculate various parts of solids.

12.4- Volume of Prisms and Cylinders

Today we started our discussion on volume of three-dimensional solids.  We began by looking at prisms and cylinders which have the same formula for finding their volume- calculating the area of the Base multiplied by the height of the solid.

Chapter 10 Review and Extra Credit Project

Today we celebrated Pi Day and the culmination of Chapter 10 by working on an extra credit project.  Your project is to create a drawing using circles, lines, and parabolas and labeling each equation of each figure that you draw.  This extra credit project is due on Friday and points will be awarded based on creativity and detail.

Also, please visit http://www.classzone.com/cz/books/geometry_2007_na/crossword.htm?id=xword_ch10 and complete the Chapter 10 Crossword puzzle.  Either email me a screenshot of your results (email to bergerj@nestmk12.net) or print out your finished puzzle.  This is due by tomorrow.

10.6- Find Segment Lengths in Circle

Today we looked at the relationships between the segments lengths in a circle, specifically of chords, secants, and tangents.
