Factoring Book

Today, you were assigned a small project on factoring.  You goal is to create a book that describes the different strategies of factoring a trinomial. You will explain each strategy, give two worked out examples, and 3 problems for each strategy and include a complete answer key to the problems in the back of the book.
  •          GCF
  •          “Diamond Problem” or the equivalent
  •          Difference of Two Squares
  •          Perfect Square Trinomial
  •          When the x2 coefficient is greater than 1

The project is due in one week, Thursday, May 5th.

12) Trapezoid; segment PQ is parallel to segment SR and segment PS is not parallel to segment QR
13) Parallelogram; segment QR is parallel to segment to PS and segment RS is parallel to segment QP
14) Rhombus; segment PW is parallel to segment RS, segment PS is parallel to segment QR and segment QS is perpendicular to segment PR
15) Translate down 5 and left 2, then reflect over the y-axis
16) Rotate 90 degrees counterclockwise about the origin, then translate down 6 units.
17) 2

12.7- Similar Solids

Today we did an investigation on Similar Solids, and discovered the relationships of the surface areas and volumes of similar solids.  If you were absent, please do the investigation from your textbook on Page 846.

Tonight's homework  is P. 850-851 #3,7,9,16,17, and 21.
Check out this animation: http://www.classzone.com/cz/books/geometry_2007_na/resources/applications/animations/geom07_ch12_pg852.html
